This is how 2 referees rated Timothy:
I have a BSc in Applied Physics & Electronics and am passionate about teaching and learning. I am an outgoing person with a good sense of humour.
I always loved Maths at school but struggled initially because of poor teaching until I came across Mr Collins in Year 9. He was funny and knowledgeable. He not only taught me the beauty of Maths but through his sense of humour showed me how much fun and satisfaction you can get from problem solving.
I recently relocated from London to Bournemouth with my wife and two children for quality of life, the fresh air, sea and abundance of activities.
I have 8 years Mathematics teaching experience at 'good' and ‘outstanding’ schools in London and over 20 years Mathematics tuition experience. I have a proven track record of outstanding results enabling students to go on to high calibre Mathematics related degrees in Economics, Medicine, Science and Engineering.
I support students by identifying their strengths and weaknesses through past paper test and analysis. I teach, re-teach the weaker topics then fine tune examination technique until the student produces improvements and eliminates the weakness.
Although I specialise in A-level Mathematics – teaching Core 1 – Core 4 including modules M1-M3, S1-S2, FP1-FP3 and D1. I also support students studying Physics at GCSE and A-level as well as Mathematics at Key Stage 3, 4 and GCSE students. I chose to be a Mathematics teacher over Science as my best Science teachers were all fabulous Mathematicians.
My approach to tutoring is to establish a positive, strong relationship with my students. This enables me to understand their strengths and weaknesses in Mathematics. By encouraging and reassuring them that we work together to improve these areas, we then test out our success by applying their knowledge to examination questions. We do this in a fun but focussed way. We then reflect on any further improvements until there is no longer a problem. I believe that every student with the right guidance can achieve outstanding results. I put a lot of myself, and personally invest, in my students and their outcomes. I expect excellence and my results demonstrate this approach.
I can also provide **Contact Detail Removed** sessions to support face-to-face tuition. I can provide references and testimonials from parents.

Overall to charge £40 an hour was not an investment in our sons education. We have now found another tutor.
Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback.
I am sorry that my tuition style did not suit James. I wish you or James had communicated any of these concerns whilst I was teaching James. I would happily have made any changes necessary to suit. I do provide notes and homework where this is appropriate or requested.
James has great potential and flare for Mathematics. I wish him every success in his exams and future.
Thank you so much Tim for all your help and support.
It was great teaching you. I was delighted to help with both your GCSE Maths and support you with the Numeracy Teaching Skills test which you nailed.
He said the tuition from his house despite payment on base of he will come to student’s house and did not answer my emails for 3days about his ability to come to my house ,also he did not answer phone call or even reply later. So I believe he is untrustworthy to teach students .
I contacted the tutor via email and we arranged that he will Come today at 12:30 and I waited but he did show up and at 12:38 he sent me email saying :is tutoring for today 12:30 ok ? and I replaid that we r as we were waiting for him and askied when He will come ?
At 2pm he sent me an email saying :there is misunderstanding and he tutors from his home .since he agreed for tuition and asked me to pay and I paid , I contacted him via email and he never mentioned in his emails that he tutors from his home .
Now I cannot go to his house so please keep my money as a credit for another math tutor.and please send me the list oh math tutor for GCSE in my area **Postcode Removed**
Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback.
There seems to be a misunderstanding in our communication.
I find that my students achieve the best results and progress when they are able to use the resources in my home learning room and so visiting students at their home is not recommended.
I hope that your child achieves success in their exams, and if I can be any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thank you so much Tim for what you have done so far!
Didn’t get a chance to start tutoring so can’t comment on this.
Thanks for the feedback.
I’m sorry that we couldn’t arrange a time for tutoring. February is generally a busy time as people are starting to prepare for exams after mock exams.
If I can be any help with tutoring in the future, please let me know.
