Private Maths and Physics Tutor in Christchurch

I have a BSc in Applied Physics & Electronics and am passionate about teaching and learning. I am an outgoing person with a good sense of humour.

I always loved Maths at school but struggled initially because of poor teaching until I came across Mr Collins in Year 9. He was funny and knowledgeable. He not only taught me the beauty of Maths but through his sense of humour showed me how much fun and satisfaction you can get from problem solving.

I recently relocated from London to Bournemouth with my wife and two children for quality of life, the fresh air, sea and abundance of activities.

Tutoring Experience

I have 8 years Mathematics teaching experience at 'good' and ‘outstanding’ schools in London and over 20 years Mathematics tuition experience. I have a proven track record of outstanding results enabling students to go on to high calibre Mathematics related degrees in Economics, Medicine, Science and Engineering.

I support students by identifying their strengths and weaknesses through past paper test and analysis. I teach, re-teach the weaker topics then fine tune examination technique until the student produces improvements and eliminates the weakness.

I teach Mathematics from Year 6 upwards to A-level and Engineering students in year 1 of their degrees. I also teach all Sciences at GCSE and A-level Physics. I chose to be a Mathematics teacher over Science as my best Science teachers were all fabulous Mathematicians.

Tutoring Approach

My approach to tutoring is to establish a positive, strong relationship with my students. This enables me to understand their strengths and weaknesses in Mathematics. By encouraging and reassuring them that we work together to improve these areas, we then test out our success by applying their knowledge to examination questions. We do this in a fun but focussed way. We then reflect on any further improvements until there is no longer a problem. I believe that every student with the right guidance can achieve outstanding results. I put a lot of myself, and personally invest, in my students and their outcomes. I expect excellence and my results demonstrate this approach.

I can also provide Skype sessions to support face-to-face tuition. I can provide references and testimonials from parents.#/k#
