Hi, my name is Wira. I am a student reading Economics at the University College London. I am passionate about seeing others grow in knowledge and confidence and I feel that I have something to offer in Maths. Other than my studies, I am an avid tennis player and love a good dinner party with my friends.
I tutored GCSE Mathematics and Economics to first year students at university during my undergraduate studies. I have helped a lot of my friends in groups or one-to-one at school and university simply because I thoroughly enjoy it. I have helped many people over the years of very different characters and have adapted in every instance to suit their needs. I am willing to offer one hour of tuition on a free-trial basis to make sure that you are happy.
As I have come to learn over the years, every student is different and have their own learning preference. As a tutor I find it crucial to listen carefully to my tutee to establish the way they best processes information. I have very often found that teachers were not able to help simply because they do not understand the problem at hand. Therefore I place huge importance in communication with my tutee. By also establishing their areas of strengths and weaknesses, a more efficient learning process can be found. I will adapt my teaching style to best get the information across. Some prefer a theoretical whilst others an applicational approach. I have found that most people are able to visualize and fully understand problems when it is put into real world application. Having done many theoretical and applied maths modules over the years, I am able to simplify complex problems to their core and by working upwards from the bottom, I believe that complex theories and problems will be easily understood. I plan on breaking down each problem into small parts so that it is easily understood. I believe that a big reason why a lot of students do not achieve their potential is lack of practice and unfamiliarity with the exam. By building a thorough and deep understanding of mathematics refined through exam practice, I believe I can help students get an A for maths. The bottom line for me is that it's not about what I teach, but what you learn.
