Personal Description:

Having just graduated with a degree in mathematics from Newcastle University; I believe that I have the knowledge and skills to help A-level and GCSE students through their exams.
I am currently studying a PGCE in mathematics at Newcastle as I am looking to be a maths teacher. As such I am very aware of the current curriculum and can work closely with any student I tutor to adapt to their style of learning.

Tutoring Experience:

I have had over 10 students over the past three years mainly focusing on A-level and GCSE maths, as such I have apt experience teaching cohesively in regards to this area. As well as an up to date knowledge of the curriculum.
A part of my degree was heavy involvment of group work and as such I have had to explain certain elements to others and well as having the communication skills required to be able to listen to them. This is essential in any Tutor/Tutee relationship.
As treasurer of the theatre society I have had to work proffesionally with a massive multitude of people this past year and as such I can ensure a proffesional relationship with any tutee, however this does not mean that the tutee would have a bland experience as I have a strong personality that is very useful in communicating subject areas.

Tutoring Approach:

Firstly I would identify any areas that they are particularly weak in. This would be through asking them where they struggle or presenting them questions which we would then discuss.
I would then discuss with them the concepts behind the methods required to the tutee but more than anything I would help them to learn the methods required to solve the questions in front of them.
In any mathematics course it is apparent that each year they ask very similar questions on exams and as such I believe that by both explaining the theory and ensuring the development of the methods in the tutee they can aim for 100% on every single exam they take.
