Personal Description:

My name is Vicki-Marie Venn and I run my own online tuition business, Social Science Tutor.

I'm an experienced teacher with three degrees and full teaching qualifications. I've taught Sociology and Psychology in state and independent schools but now I tutor online to students across the UK.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching and tutoring for over 12 years, specialising in A level and GCSE provision.

I am a Home Education specialist; 60% of my current students are home educated.

For Psychology I tutor students following the AQA specification at A level and both AQA & Edexcel for GCSE. I can offer taught sessions and assignment proofreading for undergraduates although I do not offer SPSS tuition.

For Sociology I tutor students following the AQA specification at A level and GCSE level plus the CIE iGCSE. I also offer taught sessions and proofreading for university students.

Tutoring Approach:

I offer online tuition. I use Skype, which means students can hear and see me in real time - just like face-to-face lessons but on a computer screen.

I use Google Docs as an online whiteboard where we create a record of our lessons. Homework can be set and added to the document each week.

l tutor between 9:10 am and 2:50 pm Monday to Friday during term time. I can also offer after school slots from 3 pm until 5:35 pm (although these are priced at £40 per hour for GCSE and A level due to childcare costs).

From Isata (1/5): (A-Level Sociology) She has not stated tutoring my son, although I have made a prepayment of £36. She was meant to commence tutoring him online today but there was a big miscommunication between her and my son. Her reason was not valid to me. Probably her hands are full.
I am looking forward to working with you in the hope of finding a tutor who will be willing to tutoring my son.

Reply from Vicki: Isata was fully refunded for her payment because her son repeatedly failed to make contact with me. Students do need to answer emails and provide details of their Skype accounts for online tuition to occur successfully.

My previous, dedicated tutees have provided excellent feedback on my tuition service and have achieved fantastic results.

From Nicki (5/5): (University Psychology) I had huge reservations about using Skype, much preferring face to face tutoring. However, Vicki was amazing and I needn't have worried. The whole hour was jam packed with teaching that was relevant, helpful and communicated effectively, Vicki certainly knows her stuff!
Spending just one hour with Vicki helped me to understand some of the concepts that I was struggling with for my psychology degree research project, so much so that I achieved 90%. Yes I had to look at it a few times in case I'd misread it!
I would certainly recommend Vicki to anyone and I would without a doubt use her again.
