I am a Qualified Secondary School Teacher (PGCE). I work as second in charge of the MFL department, in a south London mixed compréhensive school, where I teach classes from year 7 to 13 specialising in exam preparation. (i.e. GCSE, IGCSE and A Level). I tutor students following recognised teaching methods so as to help them progress in all 4 key skills.
Over the years I have found that the key with learning a foreign language is to build students' confidence. Once a student is confident about his/her progress and learning, then he/she will start taking risks and with risks progress is even more noticeable. This is why I spend time over the first lessons building a students confidence by showing them, through trialled testing techniques, how much they have progressed after just one hour.
As a practising teacher, I have prepared hundreds of students for their exams and have therefore a good understanding of not only the different exam requirements for all skills, but also a good knowledge of the wide array of exam revision techniques and exercises available.
I have an absolute passion for teaching, between school and tutoring, I teach on average 6h a day and this is a hobby for me. Seeing my students gain confidence and progress is so rewarding. The dynamics in classroom teaching and tutoring are very different. Each of my tutees learns in a different way and I can therefore focus and adapt my teaching to suit that particular student's needs. This is why their progress is so much more rapid than in a classroom, where this is not always possible.
If you would like to know how I would approach your particular needs, please do not hesitate to contact me, I look forward to hearing from you.
I have been teaching since 2011 in various London secondary schools.
As a proven linguist, I have taught French, German and Spanish to GCSE and German and French to A level.
Over the years I have prepared hundreds of students for gcse, Alevels, IGCSEs And IB
In my opinion many students who need tutoring have lost a lot of confidence in their ability to learn a language. My first step is therefore always to help them rebuild their confidence, which can be difficult to do in a classroom environment of 30 students, however is generally easier to do on a one to one basis or in small groups.
