After a career at the BBC, making documentary programmes, I completed my PGCE at Cambridge University and now I love teaching primary aged children. Unlocking potential in a child is the greatest reward. Helping children learn and enjoy that learning is always achievable when you know how.
I have been a primary school teacher in Cambridge for 13 years. I have taught in Reception, KS1 and KS2. I have completed a two year Mastery Maths course and enjoy preparing exciting and challenging lessons, especially those which not only advance basic fluency skills, but also encourage a deeper understanding of solving reasoning style questions. In addition, I have a special interest in English teaching and love supporting primary children who are keen to advance their writing skills.
I love finding out where a student is on their learning journey. This allows me to understand any gaps they have in their knowledge or understanding. Once this has been established, I am able to plan effectively for the next steps in their learning. I always tailor engaging lessons to promote confidence, skill and a love of learning.
