I have recently graduated from Durham university with an MPhys and enjoy all things related to maths, physics and astronomy. I am currently undertaking postgraduate research in the School of Electronic engineering at Bangor university. I am a keen hill walker, astronomer and enjoy playing the piano and organ.
I have a broad experience of working with young people having been a qualified leader in the Bangor scout group for a number of years whilst I was at school. As a young leader, I completed several training modules which equipped me to teach new skills to younger age groups. Subsequently, as an adult leader I was warranted and received a CRB check. At school I was appointed head boy and this provided me with several opportunities to engage with lower years and helped with primary school reading skills. I am familiar with all national curriculum requirements and the details of each specification. I am aware of the new specifications and assessment procedures in both England and Wales.
My tutoring approach will concentrate on key concepts and linking these with everyday contexts so that the student is aware of the relevance of what they are learning. I will encourage students to target areas of difficulty by asking key questions. This will instil in the student confidence in their learning. I wish to make the tutorials a relaxed and productive experienced for the student so that they feel comfortable in asking questions.
