I graduated from UCL with a Classics degree at level 2.2, and gained an enduring love of maths, with most of my teaching experience being in primary level mathematics. In March 2023 I completed a CELTA course at West Thames College.

I currently also volunteer in the classics department of Tiffin School, helping the teachers out with whichever kids are struggling, and during my degree I volunteered at Fortismere in North London helping a group of year 9 girls target a Latin O Level.

Tutoring Experience

In July 2023 I taught English as a second language to many small classes (usually around 15 pupils)

I have taught Latin to several groups of primary children, following the Minimus course. I am also a regular piano teacher, helping my tutees to improve their general technique.

I have provided tuition for at least 5 children between the ages of 5-13 through this site alone, primarily in Maths, but also in Latin and Piano.

Through First Tutors I have successfully worked with 10 clients, mostly in Maths, but also in Latin, English and Piano.

Tutoring Approach

Generally speaking, I find that the technique of finding the student's weak spot/s and then building up their confidence in that/those area/s is very effective. I achieve this by regular (very small scale) testing, for example weekly vocab tests. It doesn't take very long, and allows me to focus the student's learning much more keenly.
