I am an experienced secondary English teacher who holds a PGCE & Qualified Teacher Status in England and Wales. I have a vast amount of experience within education, teaching at KS2 – KS5 level. I am passionate, diligent and enthusiastic, and my philosophy of “only excellence” enables my students to make maximum levels of progress, whilst developing a love for learning.

Tutoring Experience

Over the past few years, I have worked in a variety of educational settings supporting students in their academic and personal development. I have spent the past seven years working as an English teacher in Secondary Education (11-18 years old), including working as a Lead Practitioner of English. Within these experiences, I have developed a strong knowledge of differentiation strategies to support learning and challenge for students of all abilities, including high achieving students.

Tutoring Approach

My teaching pedagogy rests on the belief that all students can make significant progress when they are confident in themselves, and confident in the subject content. As a result, all of the sessions that I plan and deliver are tailored to the individual needs of the student and their unique learning style. All sessions are designed to be engaging and fun whilst providing students the academic rigour essential to foster progress.

The session format consists of a cycle of instruction, exploration, application and review. This model enables me to formatively assess the progress of my students and give additional support if required. I am also able to provide students with independent study activities that will help reinforce and consolidate the learning that takes place during the sessions.
