I'm Theo. I am a secondary Teacher of English based in Edinburgh. I have a varied background ranging from educational policy research to teaching English as a foreign language.

Putting pupils' engagement first, I plan appropriate lessons and provide differentiation in order to ensure that the needs and interests of pupils are always at the core of what I do. Each child receives the support they need to thrive in my classroom and my online lessons.

I am a firm believer in lifelong learning and always seek CPD opportunities to help me become a better and more efficient teacher. I also take part in extra curricular activities and after school clubs such as CCF and the Languages cafe. In order to build positive relationships and help forge well rounded young people and help maximise their potential.

One of my key areas of interest is policy and how it is implemented in practice. Through research but also involvement in shifting school policies I enjoy taking part in the process of observing, decision making but also testing how changing strategies and tactics can affect education.

I also enjoy engaging with wider organisation initiatives such as school trips, raising awareness days (such as for Pride month) and school fundraisers.

In my free time I enjoy going to the cinema, the theatre, and naturally, reading. I also like going to the gym, and always trying to learn a new language.

Tutoring Experience

I have been teaching in Scotland for 4 years from S1 level all the way up to Advanced Higher.

Tutoring Approach

My approach to teaching is based on nurture principles for pupils who need additional support. I also excel in chunked down step by step lessons for senior pupils who face their exams.
