Hi, I’m Suvettha, a friendly, organised and adaptive teacher with experience currently as a Secondary English Teacher as well as 6 years’ tutoring students in-person and online from ages 4-19. I hold a bachelors degree in Anthropology and I have extensive experience teaching English and Humanities subjects such as Geography, Sociology and RS up to A-Level.
I am a secondary school English teacher and I have 6 years experience tutoring English, Geography, Sociology and RS privately and with various organisations both in-person and online.
I am currently offering Easter Holiday crash courses - please message me if you are interested!
My approach to tutoring is student focused and is dependent on their style of learning. I make sure to provide a range of activities dependent on their ability and how they learn best. The first few lessons I am especially looking out for what kinds of learning styles my students lean toward and I make sure to get feedback from the students to make sure that my lessons stay engaging.
In terms of content, I cover the syllabus and focus on exam questions whilst making sure that revision materials are also made as part of their homework thereby ensuring that students are revising overtime rather than right before the exam which saves time and encourages knowledge retention.
I find importance in consistently communicating with the students about how they prefer learning and what kinds of activities help them which, in my experience, has lead to better learning overall and more engagement and satisfaction when approaching exams.
Below are some reviews and recommendations I have received during my time tutoring:
'We just got my daughter’s GCSE results and she had achieved 7! With the help of Suvettha’s tutoring she went from predicted grade 3 to achieving 7. Thank you again!'
GCSE RS Student
Suvettha is a fantastic and friendly tutor with a lot of patience and has a lot of knowledge to share. She will tell you what areas you can improve on to give you the best chance to ace your academic exams. Would recommend 100%.
Grade 9 GCSE Geography Student
'I managed Suvettha when she was a tutor at ***** and she was excellent! She worked hard to plan her lessons (even though she didn't have to), she was reliable, punctual and always attentive. She built wonderful relationships with her pupils and always looked to encourage them when they were lacking confidence. I highly recommend her as she goes above and beyond to do a fantastic job of teaching.'**
Team Leader at Tutoring Organisation
'In the last fourteen weeks, my daughter has enjoyed your tuition very much and her confidence has grown immensely.'
A-Level Geography and Sociology Student
’Suvettha is an excellent tutor. Very professional and experienced. She explains topics in an understandable way. She is very knowledgeable of the subject and most importantly she is able to deliver the lesson in an effective way. Suvettha has regularly updated us regarding the progress and gave helpful feedback how to improve further. I would highly recommend Suvettha to other students.’
