I am creative, energetic and full of determination! I love teaching my subject, but understand why students find it difficult and hard work, so I have developed strategies over 20+ of teaching to help make the subject interesting, relevant and achievable. My students describe me as someone who explains it so they understand. I make chemistry make sense!
It is not an easy subject, but I have a very logical approach with clear direction about what needs to be memorised, and what needs to be understood, so that you can make progress with it, and feel that each step you take is helping build a complete picture.
20+ years teaching experience in a variety of schools including co-ed state schools and selective girls schools. I have taught science to gcse level, and chemistry to A level, although for the last 10+ years I have taught exclusively chemistry, so I am a little rusty on physics and biology!
Most recently I was head of faculty in a selective school where I was appointed lead practitioner in recognition of my advanced and effective teaching skills. I now tutor full time and love being able to focus on what I do best- helping students!#/k#
I listen carefully to students and work with them to clear stumbling blocks and help them move forwards in their learning. I put a great deal of emphasis on understanding the subject and bringing everyday relevance to the subject so it is interesting, inspiring and accessible.
I am well planned, organised and can adapt to the needs of the student. I pride myself on working with students to help them gain mastery of a difficult subject.
We can build skills through looking at problems and practising past exam questions.
Please note, I am available for weekly sessions (ie not fortnightly).
