Information About Susan - Burnley tutor - (6 reviews)
This is how 3 referees rated Susan:
Well established teacher since 1982. Family orientated having 3 children and 5 siblings. Children all successfully through high school. The oldest working in primary schools at present. The youngest child currently completing his final year at Clitheroe Royal Grammar school. Hobbies include all sports, reading and going to the cinema. I also enjoy travel.
Throughout my career I have taught in 3 high schools. I have spent the majority of my career in my present school where I have held various positions including acting assistant Headteacher for 3 years, Learning Manager for both key stages and second head in the Mathematics department. I was initially employed as a Physical Education teacher.
In my role as a Mathematics teacher I have taught all abilities from Year 7 to Year 11 including additional educational needs students and the most gifted A* students. My strength as a teacher over the past 10 years has been, to target the C-D borderline students.
For students to be successful I believe they must feel comfortable with their tutor. All students make mistakes and this is how they learn. Students should not be in fear of something being incorrect. My students thrive from receiving initial feedback in the classroom either from myself, their peers or through self assessment. Students need to know how to improve to make further progress. They need to know what is required of them to achieve the next grade. All my students are motivated and strive for success. Tasks set should always be challenging. Yet it is paramount that the learner has the necessary skills to complete the task set so that negative attitudes do not arise during their learning.
