I graduated from Swansea University in 2008 with a 2:1 in Aerospace Engineering, a degree which meant I learnt to fly planes as well as build them! After university I travelled around the world for 2 years, teaching English in Nepal and Thailand as well as working for various NGOs along the way. My other passion is adventure sports - particularly surfing; I have a surf business based in London and run frequent trips to the coast.
I'm patient and friendly, and I enjoy helping people learn. I am now training to become a full time teacher and will be doing my PGCE in Physics and Maths in September 2018. I am working as a supply teacher to gain experience in the meantime.
I'm also very flexible with my working hours and I'm happy to either visit your home, have you come to me or meet at a mutually convenient location.
Steven is a joyful and passionate teacher who loves to inspire his audience with whatever he is teaching. He has worked as an English as a foreign language teacher in Nepal and Sri Lanka and professionally as a surf instructor in India, Morocco, Portugal and the UK.
Ever since Steven was a child he has loved to teach. Even as a 6/7 year old he would share his love of Origami with other children in his school – teaching how to make jumping frogs and other things on ‘rainy lunch breaks’. Then in his youth, whilst at Scouts and Karate classes he would lead by example and help educate other students that were not as experienced as him. During Stevens A Levels he also worked as a swimming teacher and has an ASA Level 1 swimming instructor certificate.
Putting this experience together Steven has been teaching a wide variety of activities and hobbies for most of his life and his passion to help others learn new skills is evident in his positive and clear way of teaching. He has a real passion for sharing knowledge and making the subject he is teaching as interesting, fun and relevant as possible.
In preparation to apply for a PGCE course starting in September 2018 he has been working as an A Level Physics Tutor and as a GCSE Maths tutor – bringing back his passion for the subjects that he studied during his Aerospace Engineering Degree between 2004-2008.
Open, calm and able to make the subject come to life
