I've been teaching and tutoring since the early 90s and have a wealth of experience. I currently work as an examiner and teach private clients including those who are home-schooled.
Some evening and daytime slots are available but will depend on location. Online tuition is also available.

Tutoring Experience

I have 26 years' teaching experience and periods acting as head of department. I've taught in mixed, boys', girls', selective, SEN and high schools. I have also taught intervention classes, adults, residential classes and most recently I've enjoyed working with high ability Autistic Spectrum and CAMHS students.
I have taught many students with sensitive safeguarding referrals and CAHMS referrals.
My experience comprises 25 years maths teaching, 12 years physics and chemistry (not biology) teaching.
I have also undergone recent post graduate re-training in physics and chemistry teaching.

Tutoring Approach

Each student is very different and the ways they learn can vary. Students usually respond positively to my "lighter" non-confrontational style. We shouldn't be forcing students to have private lessons and this doesn't guarantee results. For this to work, students needs to "buy into" wanting to be helped. I like to choose and get to know my students individually regardless of ability and I have enough experience to draw on alternative approaches to topics. I like to be honest with students and parents about expectations.
I prefer to meet with students and their families before tuition commences to discuss realistic requirements so that we can all work together.
