I've been teaching for 15 years and believe that education should provide students with opportunities to help them be successful in the future. I've spent some time travelling around the USA and Asia and learnt a lot about many different cultures. I spent most of my degree looking at abnormalities and criminal psychology which I enjoyed very much!
In my most recent post I was Head of Equality and Diversity, prior to this I was the Acting Head of Humanities (looking after the History, Geography, RS and Psychology teams). Previously I headed the RS/Psychology department which was very successful and had achieved great results. I have taught RS, Psychology and a little Classics. The leaders of my school have observed my teaching and have graded me as "Outstanding." I have tutored students before on a one to one basis but also in small groups of 2. I’ve taught Eduqas GCSE RS and have taught the AQA RS Spec A to GCSE level and the AQA Psychology Spec to A-level, I have some experience of other exam boards. The optional Psychology Units I teach are Schizophrenia, Gender and Forensic Psychology.
I have taught OCR Religious Studies (Philosophy and Ethics), specifically: A/S Religious Philosophy and A/S and A-Level Religious Ethics.
I believe in a very practical form of tutoring. Whereby the tutor and tutee go through key ideas and concepts together and complete various tasks. Sometimes a short discussion can be very useful in helping iron out any issues. Exam practice is very important and I believe in attempting a variety of exam questions. Also I try to teach a variety of study skills and revision techniques to help aid with getting good results.
I'm happy to travel to students within the local areas.
