I am married with three children (all graduate linguists) and now bilingual grandchildren. A past Chairman of the Bury St Edmunds/Compiègne town twinning association, I was also awarded the Lidice Memorial Medal for work in the Czech Republic.

Tutoring Experience

I have taught languages in nursery school, at primary level, in secondary schools and to adults in industry. Formerly Head of Modern Languages and latterly Head of Sixth Form at Thetford Grammar School, I am available for daytime and evening lessons, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. My tutees enjoy their lessons as much as I enjoy their success.
With 30+ years' experience, I am adept at pitching your lessons at the right level and then stretching you gently. I am currently preparing candidates for examinations, and have an excellent record of success with 1:1 tutees. If you are reading this profile, then I do still have some availability.

Tutoring Approach

I'm a very experienced tutor and will quickly identify the best approach with individual learners. I then plan lessons and adapt my teaching style to match needs and particular areas of interest. Exam candidates all improve and go on to achieve excellent results.
