Sophie

Sophie

I am a native French speaker who is passionate about languages.
I have seen myself becoming a hard-working, reliable, flexible and very well organised teacher who sets high standards to myself and students alike.
I consider myself as a caring, dedicated and positive teacher, an attitude to what students respond well. Moreover, I am a creative person and as such I am very comfortable using I.C.T. and creating my own resources to suit the level of each one of my learners.

Tutoring Experience

Over the past few years, I have been highly committed in the schools I worked for. I have started gaining teaching experience by working in England in 2011 in a secondary school and by being a tutor in my free time. I worked as a language assistant in Kent for two years, where I helped with French and Spanish exam classes. Being back to France, I have given classes to foreigners at the university of Strasbourg and at a primary school. I got a double qualfication, with France and Scotland, and I have done a couple of placements in different schools in Scotland as part of the PGDE.
I have now been working for eight years in a secondary school in the Scottish Borders.
I have also gained experience in teaching at the local primary school, from P1 to P7, and from S1 to AH at the secondary school. I have cross-marked and moderated exam papers for my senior classes and the ones of my colleagues. I have been a subject lead in the Scottish Borders for two years and I am an SQA marker for all senior exams.

Tutoring Approach

I am very flexible, so I am happy to use and create the resources that suit the people I teach in the most efficient way. I adapt my classes to the needs of the learners. I usually try to develop the four skills in each lesson but I am happy to deepen a specific skill: writing, listening, reading or talking. I am aware that grammar is a struggle sometimes to understand and apply so I am used to teach it with a various range of activities.
