My name is Sophia and I am a fully qualified teacher (QTS) with a First-Class Honours degree in BSc Chemistry. After completing my undergraduate, I then went onto achieving a Postgraduate Diploma in Secondary Education (PGDipEd) in Science - Chemistry, at the University of Birmingham.

I am a caring, committed and competent individual that is driven by the desire to help others, and thrives off the success of her pupils. Currently, I am working as a secondary school classroom teacher, teaching Science (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) as well as Mathematics. Along with the strong passion I possess for my subjects, I enjoy sharing and passing on my existing knowledge, as well as being given the chance to make a direct impact on young people, by inspiring them to reach their full potential.

Tutoring Experience

I am a qualified teacher with five years of experience in school and seven years of experience in tutoring, having offered group and one-to-one tuition to children of both primary and secondary school ages.

The subjects and levels I am offering are as follows:

Science (Bio, Chem and Phys) – Key stage 1, 2 and 3
Mathematics – Key stage 1, 2 and 3
Chemistry – GCSE
Biology – GCSE

Tutoring Approach

My approach to teaching is flexible, depending on the needs of the student. I can easily tailor my teaching style to meet the requirements of all learners. I strongly believe that having the ability to pass on complex ideas in a way that would make it easy and simple for students to grasp the idea of is a vital skill to have in this field.

After the understanding of concepts have been mastered, it is fundamental that one goes through as many exam-style questions as possible to help prepare for their upcoming exam. This, coupled with model answers, will enable the student to have no doubt but to excel in their experience with me as their tutor.
