Welcome!

My name's Solomon and I am a PhD student at the University of York researching Mathematics.

I have always had a passion for Mathematics and to help others understand and achieve where they are struggling.

I have tutored for over 8 years now, focusing on building pupils' confidence within the subject as well as the general perception of maths and for those focused on exams - nailing down exam techniques.

My main aim is to keep the sessions fun and enjoyable and to keep you engaged and interested in the maths being discussed.

Tutoring Experience

I have taught for over 8 years, beginning out as a private tutor in my hometown whilst studying for my A-Levels. I was then invited to assist and then lead GCSE revision sessions at the weekend/half-term breaks for students of all abilities at my local school. I continued this approach until I went to university, where I then began to utilise online tuition as a new medium to deliver lessons.

Whilst an undergraduate student I spent three years working at a tutoring centre in Huddersfield, working with up to 4 pupils per hour of different ages/abilities, delivering hours of tailored and personalised lessons where I was eventually made the Senior Maths tutor.

Since graduating, I have become a full-time Maths tutor teaching pupils of all ages and all abilities. Each session is tailor-made to suit each student.

Tutoring Approach

Each session I deliver will be tailored to the individuals students needs, and at times, requests. This will be done through planning each session dedicated to specific topics highlighted to be of weakness to the student, and assisted by worksheets and relevant exam work. By keeping the sessions fun and relaxed as possible, these sessions will hopefully provide an hour of mathematics different from that at school and stop those common complaints/knee-jerk reactions that "Maths is boring"!!
Understanding of what has been taught and discussed each session will be monitored through homework, which I would ask to be completed by our next session, as a way to really show an independent knowledge of the topic!
