I am currently a student at the University of Bristol studying Engineering Mathematics, I have been tutoring Maths and Economics at various levels for the last two years. I possess a strong grounding in all areas covered in the new Maths syllabus’s for both GCSE & A-level. I have extensive experience taking students all the way up to exams, enabling me to identify and prioritise areas for improvement within a given timeframe. I use a number of different techniques to engage and enhance the learning of my tutees. A typical session would involve a short introduction to a topic followed by one or two examples, leading on to a question being set. When setting questions I seek to probe students into thinking "what if they had asked X instead of Y or what would I need to find Z. I believe that analysis and evaluation are the best tools a student can possess in any subject, my sessions focus on deep understanding to enable each student to be able to push themselves and really hit those high grades. Particularly in Maths, there are usually multiple ways of reaching a correct answer, I find it best to take students through different methods and let them compare and contrast the advantages and disadvantages of each through their own reasoning.
