I am a native Japanese speaker from Tokyo and have lived in the UK for over 25 years. I am also a holder of the Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching Japanese as a Foreign Language. My background is in graphic design but I travelled around New Zealand and Australia before coming to the UK. Through my travel, I met people from many different countries and greatly enjoyed the experience. I live in Kings Norton which is in the south side of Birmingham.
I taught my son Japanese single handedly from home without outside help and he got A* for both Japanese GCSE and A level. I am currently taking on adults and students. Some adults have business connections with Japan, some students are studying for GCSE. Some students want to be interpreters, some people are preparing for a holiday in Japan. The level of my students range from beginners to upper-intermediate. I have also taught/overseen a group of children who learnt Japanese language and culture. I have also tutored several school children in New Zealand.
Number of people I teach on one to one bases as of July 2018: 12 people
I am friendly, enthusiastic and dedicated, and am happy to accommodate various needs such as studying for GCSE, helping in business situations with Japanese people, or preparing for trips to Japan. If you are already studying Japanese, I can add depth and insight to enrich your understanding of Japanese language which you could never learn through textbooks. If you want to make the lessons conversation orientated, one to one lessons are the perfect way to tailor the topics to suit your needs. If you want to get away from textbook from time to time, I have plenty of supporting materials to make lessons fun and tactile. If you are interested in certain aspects of Japan such as culture or food, I am very happy to support you in those areas, too. I look forward to hearing from you!
