Sarah

Hi, I’m Sarah, a third-year MPharm student at a Russell Group university with over 3 years of tutoring experience.

I have helped GCSE and A-level students improve their grades from U–C to A/A by focusing on exam technique, clear explanations, and confidence-building.

I am currently accepting new students for January–May exam preparation.

I currently offer targeted support for GCSE and A-level Biology and Chemistry, particularly for mock and final exam preparation as well as help writing personal statements.

Tutoring Experience

I have tutored 23 students across KS3, GCSE, and A-level over three years, helping many improve by multiple grades through structured teaching and exam-focused practice.

My strengths lie in explaining difficult topics clearly and teaching students how to approach exam questions effectively.

I have also tutored my 4 younger siblings in various stages of their education, some of who suffer from attention deficit disorders and dyslexia.

Tutoring Approach

I focus on ensuring students fully understand key concepts before applying them to exam questions. I assess students’ strengths and weaknesses early on, then focus sessions on filling gaps and improving exam technique.

Once these have been identified, i would explain the topic in a simple manner and then involve key words and definitions within the topic. At the end of the session i would ask the student to summarise what they have learnt in that session or complete some practice questions to consolidate their learning.

Each lesson is tailored to the pupil, so i rarely use the same material twice even when teaching the same topic, as every student is different and may require a different approach.

Other necessary skills for revision such as time management and exam stress management are things i also focus on, as i know pupils can have the knowledge but be reluctant to apply it due to exam nerves. This is something i too dealt with, and i know how challenging it can be.

I aim to make lessons supportive, structured, and confidence-building, particularly for students who feel anxious about exams.
