I am currently a foundation doctor. I have been through the school, college and medical school experience and I know how stressful of an experience it all is. Sometimes, you just need a little hand, and I felt as though it helped more through getting a tutor who had recent experience in the whole situation. I am aware that all the examinations procedures have changed as my year was the first year group to sit the linear A-Level examinations where all your exams are at the end of the 2 years. So I fully understand how much of a challenge it is. I am a friendly and talkative person. I love helping other people as much as I can, and feel as though academic tutoring is a way in which I can do this.
Previously, I have worked as a teaching assistant for 2 months after my GCSE examinations, in the foreign languages department at a high school. Here, i was responsible for assisting students who were studying French at GCSE level. At college, i tutored students for Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Psychology when I was in my second year. I have previous experience in academic tutoring too. I have tutored students from age 4 all the way up until A-Level students. I love my job as a tutor and it makes me really happy to go on and see my students achieve above and beyond what they expected to.
I have a different approach to tutoring. I aim to make my tutoring sessions as fun and as engaging as possible, as I believe this is the best way to learn. I base my teaching upon the needs of the student and what they want to go through. If there are any specific topic areas they are struggling with then I would want to focus on that. I ask my students what they would want to cover in their next session, so I can be prepared to give them the best learning experience and help them as much as I can. I use both traditional and advanced styles of teaching incorporating both technology and traditional methods as I feel as though this is an effective way of teaching. Each student is unique and therefore I tailor my teaching style to suit every individual.
