I earned a PhD in Nuclear Physics from The University of Manchester in 2017, where my studies involved both experimental and theoretical research with a particular focus on statistical analysis and computational modelling.

After completing my studies, I transitioned into education as a mathematics teacher. In this role, I played a pivotal part in assisting numerous students in reaching their GCSE and A-level targets.

Currently positioned as the Head of Research & Development at a tech start-up, I apply my expertise in the professional realm. In this capacity, I oversee the development of sophisticated algorithms crucial to our compliance software, effectively bridging the gap between theory and application. This experience highlights my adeptness at navigating the intricate intersection of science and technology.

I have three years of experience as a mathematics teacher, during which I assumed responsibility for overseeing the UKMT maths challenge while actively engaged in full-time education. My expertise extends to working with high-achieving students at both GCSE and A-level, where I provided guidance on tackling grade 9+ style questions and supported those targeting grades 4-5.

In addition to my role as an educator, I possess a wealth of experience in preparing students for advanced assessments such as Step and various university entrance exams. This includes a comprehensive understanding of the exam structures and requirements.

My proficiency in the field also extends to exam marking, where I have contributed to evaluating exams for both Edexcel and AQA.

During my doctoral studies at The University of Manchester, I taught undergraduate students core mathematical concepts for university physics and served as a lead laboratory demonstrator for three years. Tutoring Approach

Mathematics is best understood through problem-solving and focuses on trying to help students understand how to apply their skills across various scenarios and settings. Currently, GCSE and A-level mathematics are far more focused on problem-solving skills, and I am well suited to guiding pupils to succeed in this area.

I am sympathetic and understanding. I understand that all people learn best in a calm environment, so I endeavour to ensure the atmosphere is always relaxed.

I have a sound understanding of how to best learn for retention and apply techniques to ensure pupils can remember and repeat skills in exam conditions.
