Personal Description:

I am a graduate Biochemist from the University of Nottingham, currently studying Graduate Medicine in Swansea. I have a true passion and energy for teaching and mentoring, with extensive experience doing both during my previous degree and my time working within hospitals. With 7 A*s and 5 As at GCSE, and A*AA in Mathematics, Biology & Chemistry at A Level, I have amassed a strong set of organisational skills and an assured proficiency in teaching Maths up to GCSE Level, and Biology & Chemistry up to AS-Level. I have experience teaching children between the ages of 7-16 and always believe there is room for improvement (perfectionist!)

Tutoring Experience:

I was involved in assisting children struggling with Mathematics during my time in 6th form. During university I also mentored GCSE pupils struggling to meet deadlines, encouraging them to pursue higher education and helping them to organize their schedules accordingly. I have also tutored my 12 year old sister and students at GCSE Level. My friendly and personable nature makes it incredibly easy for me to engage and communicate with others, along with my drive, passion and determination to teach and pass on knowledge.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in laying down the fundamentals of every topic first, and tend to follow the exam syllabus and incorporate exam papers early on. I find that this approach eases the stress of exams for students who may have not had much practice with them before. I ensure that the topic at hand is understood, with many practice questions and worked examples before advancing to more difficult concepts. I have a relaxed but firm attitude in my tutoring, and believe in giving constant encouragement every step of the way in order to bring out the best in each pupil. In setting out slightly different tasks in each session, the subject can become more interesting and much less monotonous. Above all, being kind and treating every student with respect no matter their level is absolutely key in the way I teach. I have found that this works wonders for their confidence and abilities.
