I am a 3rd year Medic at Swansea University, with a true passion and energy for teaching and mentoring. I've had extensive experience of teaching during my previous degree and my time working within hospitals. My particular strengths are at teaching students between the ages of 7-17 and fostering an attitude that seeks constant improvement. Having personally acheived A*AA in Mathematics, Biology & Chemistry at A Level and a 2.1 in Biochemistry from the University of Nottingham, I have amassed a strong set of organisational skills and a certified proficiency in teaching Biology & Chemistry to A2 Level, and Mathematics up to GCSE Level.
I have been tutoring for 3 - 4 years mainly at GCSE and A-Level. I have also mentored GCSE pupils struggling to reach their potential, encouraged them to pursue higher education and helped them get organised accordingly. I also assisted children struggling with Mathematics during my time in 6th form. My friendly and personable nature makes it incredibly easy for me to engage and communicate with others, along with my drive, passion and determination to teach and pass on knowledge.
I believe in laying down the fundamentals of every topic first, and tend to follow the exam syllabus and incorporate exam papers early on. I find that this approach eases the stress of exams for students who may have not had much practice with them before. I ensure that the topic at hand is understood, with many practice questions and worked examples before advancing to more difficult concepts. I have a relaxed but firm attitude in my tutoring, and believe in giving constant encouragement every step of the way in order to bring out the best in each pupil. In setting out slightly different tasks in each session, the subject can become more interesting and much less monotonous. Above all, being kind and treating every student with respect no matter their level is absolutely key in the way I teach.
