As a mother of two, I balance my experience and time as a teacher with the support and demands of family life. I have been teaching for 27 years with considerable exam success from 11+, Common Entrance, GCSE and A level. I have taught in a variety of academic institutions including: Independent secondary and preparatory schools, Grammar and comprehensive schools and a tertiary 6th form college. I have held senior leadership positions and I am passionate about teaching. I constantly strive for my students to attain the very best that they are capable of getting and as such I will support and encourage them whilst also setting high, realistic and achievable goals . I keep up to date with changes to the curriculum and as an examiner I am also aware of changes to the exam system and subject specific details. A key area for students is how to interpret and tackle exam questions which is often the key to success. I have considerable exam success with 11+, common entrance, GCSE and 'A' level. On a Personal level, I love sport and the outdoors and as a family we participate in many outdoor activities.
For fourteen years I have tutored students who have required additional help or support to maximise their potential in national exams in addition to teaching within a school environment. For those children wishing to to sit entrance exams to their chosen Preparatory school or Common entrance and 11+ exams for their chosen senior schools, I taylor the tuition to suit the child's needs and also the requirements of the school. Exams can vary from school to school and this preparation has proven to be essential if a child is to be successful in a competitive market.I do a great deal of specialist work preparing students for national exams at GCSE and 'A' level be this for those sitting their exams for the first time or those needing support to pass on a re sit paper. Consequently, I have a detailed understanding of various GCSE and 'A' level specifications. Exam technique is key to success as well as a solid understanding of the facts. As such, part of my tutoring role when I work with my tutees is to make sure they are secure and happy with exam techniques and any gaps in their knowledge is dealt with.
I have a very adaptable and flexible approach depending on each individuals circumstances which can change at any stage. Consequently, each tutee is given time and one to one support specific to their requirements and learning style that they have. Whilst setting high, realistic and achievable goals I also give detailed on going feed back and encouragement.I do not believe, 'one style fits all' and as such my approach is very much a mixture of what is required as an end goal coupled with how best to get a child to that 'finishing line'. In so many cases confidence is a critical factor that stands in the way of success and it is an issue I target from day.

Super pleased John achieved a great grade at 'A level despite the short time we had to sort things out. His hard work and determination made him worthy of such a great grade.I hope he enjoys Exeter University.
Sally quickly ascertained his requirements and through tailored lesson planning, has helped him to regain his confidence in each subject. Structured, enthusiastic sessions with hands on learning has been of great benefit. We would have no hesitation in recommending Sally as a top quality tutor!
Sally is very professional, kind and approachable and our daughter has been totally at ease working with her. I would highly recommend Sally for anyone considering tuition for their child.
So glad Savannah hit level 4 in her SATS. The progress she made from her starting position of a level 3C just seven months earlier is superb. Well done savannah, all that hard work has paid off.
Sally has been an accurate barometer of our daughter's studying, exams and confidence. She instinctively understands the needs of an individual and has the wisdom of Solomon when advising the right course of action for education. Sally brings innovation and personality to each tutor session.
A dedicated, conscientious and most professional Tutor. She is ruthlessly efficient, well-organised, and has a calming influence. We have watched our daughter’s results, confidence and happiness in education increase dramatically since Sally started tutoring her.
Put simply, she embodies what all teachers should be and I would recommend Sally to any parent.
Thank you so much for such a kind reflection on the tutoring I have done with Shannon. It was great to know she passed the March GCSE exam. On her effort alone she deserved this.
It is a big 5* from us!
Thank you Sally.
Sally always presented as positive when she worked with her taking the attitude ' we shall be doing this and you will be able to do and understand it' - which she did. Each session she experienced success and began to believe she knew more than she thought
After a few sessions my Granddaughter looked forward to her lessons and felt much more confident in what she was doing. I would recommend Sally as a teacher.
Exceptionally flexible and very well-prepared for lessons, Sally is an absolute gift.
