I am a qualified experienced Alevel and GCSE
chemistry , biology and physics teacher. I gained a doctoral degree in science from the Manchester University. I have also obtained a Master’s degree, in science and a Bachelor’s degree (in Genetics ) from the University of Sheffield (UK). I have completed a postgraduate course in education and gained my qualified teacher status from Manchester University. Currently , i am a science teacher in a UK secondary and sixth form mainstream school.
My interest to teach others started from an early age when i was at the elementary school and has continued right up until the present day as a science teacher. For as long as I recall , I have been always very keen in explaining scientific concepts and ideas to my classmates and later on to my students at schools and universities. My career has provided me with a rich variety of teaching opportunities. i have been involved in teaching and training of undergraduate students in different science subjects including biology , chemistry and physics at both Sheffield and Manchester Universities. I have lots of experience of teaching Key Stage 3 , Key Stage 4 and Key stage 5 pupils in both mainstream and private schools in UK. I have thought Science subjects ( physics , chemistry and biology) to Key Stage 4 and Key stage 5 students , preparing them for GCSE and A levels exams.

I am able to consistently set goals that motivates , enthuse and challenge all pupils including those with special needs and high attaining pupil , so that they can achieve and exceed their potential. I use different methods of assessment when I am teaching to ensure engagement and good attainment of pupils. I use a range of self-assessment strategies in my classrooms to encourage students to reflect and improve their own work and identify gaps in their knowledge. I also use a range of formative assessment to test subject knowledge and highlight areas for attention. I have an awareness of developments and changes in subject and curriculum areas and also an understanding of strategies to promote high literacy skills. I have good knowledge about the pupils capabilities and drawing on assessments.
When speaking to students I use positive reinforcement consistently and immediately to ensure students feel their contributions are recognised, valued and encouraged. I always set high expectations of both myself and the students I teach. Research has shown that students expected to show greater development, do show greater development. I strongly believe that high standards contribute to students being able to achieve their potential. When differentiating work for students I adjust the type and amount of support required for the individual but my expectations remain high for all students.

It has been always very satisfying to me when I know that the pupils have learned from my lesson. It is more satisfying when I relate my lesson to everyday life example and they can see the influence of science in their life . To keep students interested and motivated through out the lesson i improve my teaching styles all the times .
I always treat my students with respect and part of that is being honest with them about my own performance as well as their own. If I find an activity I have begun is not working, I do not hesitate in admitting my error and trying to correct it.

Tutoring Approach

The approach to my teaching is organised and professional. I provide exceptional teaching, tailored to achieve high grades, with a focus on grasping key scientific concepts, and targeting revision and exam strategies. My lessons are interactive, syllabus based and innovative.
I always make sure my students have the prior knowledge required to understand a new topic. All of the topics in science subjects are related and just get complicated as the students progress to higher level. So it is essential for students to have a solid prior knowledge for the new topics they are learning.
I is also essential to apply pupils knowledge to exam questions all the time to make sure that they know how to use key terminologies and answer those important questions in the exam. The mark schemes is quite specific for GCSE and Alevel exams and the students often dont know how to answet the question properly despite having the knowledge .So it is vital that they practise those questions after they gained the knowledge with an experienced teacher to secure a high grade in exams.I practice this with my KS3 students aswell so they get into habit of how to use key terms to answer questions.
