My daughter is autistic and has some difficulty processing and interpreting information.
Ruth managed to build contact with her from the first lesson. She is very kind, patient is ready to support my daughter in every aspect. She goes above and beyond in order my girl can achieve the very best of her abilities.

Ruth is an experienced and kind tutor. She was able to quickly and accurately identify my son's weak areas in the subject whilst at the same time demonstrating a high level of understanding about how a 15 year old boy, and our son and his personality in particular, would best respond to assistance and styles of teaching. Ruth is professional, reliable, honest in her feedback as well as flexible in terms of timetable and being able to fit extra lessons when required.

Ruth has been an outstanding tutor for GCSE English Language and Literature. She has provided excellent support for our two children of very different ability. She has been able to stretch and challenge the more able child who is aiming for a level 9. She has also been able to offer appropriate support for the less able child who by the time he reached GCSE was working at a level 6/7. She has a very kind, friendly and patient approach and has been able to tune in to their individual personalities and bring out the best in both of them. She has also been invaluable in offering advice around things like exam arrangements and SEN. We have no hesitation in recommending Ruth - in fact we already have to a friend. Ruth is a first rate tutor who has been tutoring my year 11 daughter in English Language and Literature. We have seen huge progress! She is organised, structured, reliable and flexible. She gives regular feedback, to both my daughter and me. She has introduced some really useful techniques to help maximise exam performance. Perhaps what really stands Ruth out from other tutors is her caring and supportive attitude. My daughter suffers from anxiety and Ruth provides support and expertise in this area which has been invaluable. Highly recommend!

Ruth has been teaching my son Sociology to prepare him for A levels. He had to be brought back up to level over the past few months and be made to refocus too. Ruth has been very patient, consistent, super organised and very direct too to encourage him to do the work. He enjoys the lessons and now focuses more on his studies and it is giving him confidence too. The lessons currently continue till his exams. Ruth is also very approachable if I have questions about his progress too. I highly recommend Ruth.

Ruth has been tutoring my son since July 2021 prior to him commencing year 10.
My son has ASD, ADHD, dyslexia and anxiety. We wanted an English tutor who had an understanding of his neurodiversity and could take this into account when helping him with his GCSE English language and literature.
Ruth had been amazing. She is very knowledgeable about the GCSE syllabus and has helped my son’s conference in English tremendously. She has also been working with his anxiety, teaching him strategies to help him cope in various situations. My son considers Ruth a member of our family and talks to her about everything and anything. We never have any problems getting him to do his English tutoring session.
Ruth has also done some work with my husband and myself helping us to learn to deal with a child who is neurodiverse. She has a wealth of knowledge and is always there when you need her. I am very confident she can help your child too.

Our son is in year 11 and Ruth has recently started tutoring him for English language and literature GCSEs. English is his least favourite subject and he is not achieving his targets. Ruth is very thorough, she has put in place a plan based on talking to our son and looking at some of his marked school work. She is flexible and happy to adjust the session around homework. However, more impressively, our son is enjoying the sessions and is very happy to do them. We are already seeing some improvements in his school work. We can hIghly recommend Ruth.

Ruth was very friendly and professional during my son's assessment session. She was very patient and warm putting him at ease. My son has little self esteem and confidence and just from a first taster session with Ruth he is feeling more positive and reassured he will improve his English skills.

My son was never going to be an academic. He achieved level 3 for his English, twice. So for his final resit for English Language GCSE we decided to invest in tutoring. I can honestly say that Ruth's time was the best investment we have ever made.
She started tutoring my son in Sept 18 and he took his resit exam in early November 18.
Ruth's personalised training approach, her calm for firm demeanour and her excellent knowledge of the English subject made it possible for my son to pass his English exam.

Ruth is an excellent tutor and would completely commend her work with our daughter. Although her training and interest is with English, it has been her attitude towards study skills, motivational support and organisation that we have found particularly helpful. She has treated our daughter as an individual and is able to think outside the box about what skills and support she needs. She has been flexible with times where this has been difficult with exams and offered some distance help via e-mail where necessary.

Ruth works quietly and carefully to build confidence. She challenges and stretches when required and supports when needed. I would highly recommend Ruth especially in helping the transition from GCSE to A-Level. My son has benefitted already and we look forward to working with Ruth throughout this academic year.

Izzy really enjoyed the sessions. She is a bright girl but English has always been a bit of a chore for her. Having missed the year she was also lacking in confidence. The sessions have really helped her so far this year and we will be back in touch for follow up sessions during May half term and the summer.

Ruth helped my son with his English Language and Literature GCSE's. She is a great tutor and helped Charlie achieve a 7 & 6 respectively. I will be using Ruth for my younger son as he approaches his GSCE's as well.

Based on one lesson I am very pleased with Ruth. I particularly like her approach to assessing my son's learning style and planning a course to accommodate this.

Ruth is a really excellent tutor. She twigged exactly what my daughter needed within the first session. She is friendly and has a happy and relaxed manner with my daughter which brings the best out in her. My daughter enjoys her lessons and is learning a lot.

We contacted Ruth to assist our son with his GCSE English Studies and from their first session together she improved his knowledge and confidence. She really engaged him in a way other teachers had been unable. We were very Fortunate to find Ruth through this website after Feb half term and following a few sessions from Ruth I could see Jennifer was beginning to have a better understanding of the subject. They kept in touch between sessions which was helpful if Jennifer had any queries about work she had been set. Ruth is the tutor for my 11 year old son and specialises in English. Ruth is patient, kind, fun, challenging, very experienced, and she focuses on tailoring the sessions to my son's needs. He is really enjoying working with her!

We were looking for additional help for our 14 year old son, who the school had identified had a slower than average reading speed and below average reading comprehension, although in all other aspects he was average to well above average. Ruth's approach put our son at ease straight away as she started to put a plan together. During this process, Ruth noticed that our son used a coping strategy whilst reading, which was to cough to give him more time to read the words on the page. This prompted Ruth to try a blue coloured filter to assist his reading and the improvement was significant and immediate; the words appeared clearer and stood out and his reading speed improved markedly. He has subsequently had a colorimitry eye test and will be soon wearing tinted glasses at school!
