My name is Ross Cooper. I am a fully qualified primary school teacher. I graduated from St Martin's college in 2004.

I have two children (an 18 month old and a five-year-old) and live in Buckshaw Village.

Tutoring Experience

I have taught in a wide range of year groups, ranging from Year 2 to Year 6 in the state and private sector during my teaching career. I have been a teacher for 14 years and have taught children with a wide range of abilities.

I have taught in key stages 1 and 2, including years 5 and 6, teaching reading, SPAG and maths intervention groups in preparation for SATS.

Tutoring Approach

I am enthusiastic, patient and positive when I tutor. I plan tutor sessions carefully and around current National Curriculum expectations.
A typical tutor session might include:
Revision of previously learnt concepts/methods
Demonstration of methods and then an opportunity to practice them.
Correcting of misconceptions to ensure children fully understand a particular skill/method.

When tutoring, I would look to build your child's confidence and ensure that they make as much progress as possible. I look to use various resources, using apparatus in maths and ICT where possible. I would also ensure that feedback is given at the end of every session.
