Roberta

I am a native-speaking Italian teacher, who has achieved a PGCE (Post Certificate in Education) in Modern Languages at Edinburgh University in 2001 and has worked in schools and colleges teaching both pupils and adult learners. I love interacting with people and I start from their own interests in organising my teaching. I have experience with students with learning difficulties and I have developed teaching techniques I can adapt to any learning styles. I am keen to organise lessons where learning and fun are combined together.

I am able to teach face to face in Perth.

Tutoring Experience

I taught both young people and adults in schools and colleges such as St Mary’s Music School in Edinburgh and Forth Valley College. I have prepared my students for SQA Examination (including Higher) and I have a deep understanding and experience in what is required to pass the exams. When I was teaching at St Mary’s Music School, I ran Italian crash courses and I am very proud of my pupils’ achievements. I have also taught in various leisure classes, these include a course organised by the Italian Consulate.

Tutoring Approach

I am a great believer in creating a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere during my lesson. Effective learning is only possible when people feel comfortable and encouraged in their learning process. During my teaching experience, I have learned the importance of adapting my teaching approach to my students’ interests and learning styles. Emphasis will be placed on all 4 skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing by using a variety of up-to-date and relevant materials appropriate to my students’ needs. I like using a multisensory approach where more than one sense is involved during the learning process as this allows reinforcing and impressing new concepts in the memory. I really believe anyone can learn a language with the right type of support and encouragement.
