I am a friendly and patient person, who has a passion for teaching. I aim to help students achieve their full potential and boost their motivation for learning so that they can see that their hard work is rewarded with the grades they deserve. I currently work in Chemical Industry as a formulation scientist and utilise my awareness of real life applications to the content of the syllabus.
Outside of teaching I am a passionate Rock climber.
I have qualified from liverpool hope university with a secondary science (chemistry specialism) pgce, I have had 2 placements on this course and i have had lots of experience with children of all ability. I have worked with students who have had a range of SEN requirements, and also with the brightest pupils in the school who I had to stretch and challenge even further to bring out their full potential. I have always had excellent relationships with pupils and staff and I am able to explain concepts to pupils in a way that they can understand, taking it from the simplest building block of knowledge and enhancing it to become the required depth for their exams.
Further experience in tutoring was during my final year of my BSc degree, I tutored a year 10 pupil maths and science during that year.
I believe all students are capable, and I create a relaxed, supportive environment that enables pupils of all abilities to get the most out of their studies, whether learning the content or just exam preparation. I hope to inspire and motivate my students to enjoy not only science but learning in general. Beyond teaching the content I would assist pupils in exam technique, how to answer the question and what exam boards are looking for in answers.
