I am a professional musician and teacher, performing on a regular basis and teaching daily. I studied Music at the University of Southampton, specialising in performance and commercial composition, and graduated in 2014 with a 1st class degree.
Over the past 10 years, I have taught instrumental lessons to a large number of students, of all ages and abilities. Many of those who were also studying music at GCSE or A Level found that they needed a bit of extra help with some areas of the course. I have set up this profile to offer specifically academic music tuition, available to all, but aimed primarily at those studying music at GCSE and A Level.
(If you are looking for instrumental tuition, please select 'Music' from the very top of this page - I offer tuition for guitar, saxophone, clarinet and mandolin).
Studying music as an academic subject can be just as challenging as learning to play an instrument, for many of us even more so. Private tuition provides the opportunity to focus in depth on specific aspects of the course, and to spend as long as necessary on each aspect until it is fully understood. Many students find they only need help with certain set works, or with preparing for the essay style exam questions, and a classroom teacher may not be able to give as much time to these things as each student needs.
I am happy to offer as many or as few lessons as you feel you need. I offer a reduction of 50% on the first lesson, so that you are not out of pocket after paying the FirstTutors finder's fee.
Please send me a message if you would like to know more or book a session.
