I am a cheerful, relaxed and experienced teacher offering trumpet lessons or music theory. I am a fully qualified primary school teacher (PGCE) and I have many years experience helping students prepare for diplomas! Education is a family profession for me; both my parents were teachers and so is my wife! We have two children of our own aged 15 and 13.
When not working, I enjoy kayak fishing, jogging, swimming, astronomy, chess and spending time with my own children. See my website www.eastdevontrumpet.co.uk
I have taught instrumental lessons for over 15 years and as a bandmaster in the Army, most of my time was spent teaching/coaching/mentoring musicians and training the band in military or musical skills.
I completed my teacher training with Devon Primary School Centered Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) which was a wonderful course where I taught all primary ages, specialising in year 2 and year 5. After this, I taught year 5 students in a state school. I have tutored both adults and children privately and I like being a private tutor because progress can be both rapid and enjoyable.
Many of my pupils comment that I make a real effort to make all of my lessons fun. I aim to make learning fun, rewarding and relevant to the real world. Having a personal tutor provides you with 1-to-1 attention so you can really focus on any mis-understandings and develop an individualised approach between the tutor and yourself that is much more useful.
