Rhyanna

I specialise in tutoring Maths and Sciences with over ten years of experience, across ages 8 to 18, for:
11+ entrance exams, KS3 (year 7 - year 9), GCSE's (year 9- 11) and A levels (year 12- 13).

My tutoring sessions provide a fun and challenging learning environment, whilst identifying and filling gaps in my student's knowledge across their syllabus, and really building up and enhancing their confidence in their abilities. My tutoring sessions are tailored to each student and discovering the best learning techniques for them.

My name is Rhyanna, I live in Southgate, I'm 29 years old and I have been tutoring for several years now. I started tutoring to support me through my university studies in Chemical Engineering, and since graduating it has become my main passion. I feel comfortable explaining all mathematic and scientific concepts in detail, from an early level up to degree level.

I sat the 11+ entrance exam myself for various schools, including Dame Alice Owen's, Latymer and Saint Albans Girls, and I am very knowledgable about the entrance exam format for many secondary schools, including verbal reasoning, maths, english, and non-verbal reasoning. I offer all-round 11+ exam preparation across all of these subjects, starting from year 4. Over the years, I have helped many children succeed in achieving a place at their desired secondary school. The entrance exam preparation that I offer is aimed to work on your child's ability to 'reason' and think logically, which is a valuable long term skill for future education and helps in many subjects. There is also a focus on past papers and increasing your child’s confidence in sitting what will usually be their first real exam.

I took up my place at Dame Alice Owens School and achieved 11 GCSE's (8 A*'s and 3 A's) and went on to achieve two A's and one A* at A level in Maths, Chemistry and History (plus a B in AS Economics).
I have a proven record of showing others how to do exactly that (and better!).

I graduated from the University of Birmingham in Summer 2014 with a Bachelors of Engineering in Chemical Engineering (2.1). I am very confident in teaching Maths and Chemistry up to A level, having studied it in great depth at degree level.

Rather than take up a job in engineering, I have found I am happier being self-employed and helping others with their studies. For me, this is so much more rewarding than any other job, and it rarely feels like just a ‘job’.

I can either come to you if you are nearby or you are welcome to come to my home in Southgate.

I also offer online lessons from home using Zoom, with share screen and whiteboard facilities. With the ability to annotate, share screen and draw on the whiteboard, it provides an interactive and engaging learning platform.

I take pride in making sure my students are getting the most out of the tutoring sessions by tailoring each lesson to that student and their learning techniques. I look forward to seeing them fulfil their potential, and the sense of achievement they get from exceeding their own expectations of themselves is really a joy to see, and is the reason I am tutoring! I believe exam technique is very important, so, as well as covering and revising the syllabus, I will provide and go through relevant past papers to shape my student’s knowledge into examiner-friendly answers.

Please ask for any references or recommendations from current and previous students.
