I am a graduate with a first class BA/MEng degree in Engineering from the University of Cambridge in June 2000, and a Master of Science in Engineering (MSE) in Computer and Information Science in August 2004 from the University of Pennsylvania.
I have had extensive teaching experience at the university level, working as a Teaching Assistant for several courses, namely: "Introduction to C Programming", "Mathematical Foundations of Computer Science", "Robotics", and "Cognitive Science" undergraduate courses and the "Machine Perception" postgraduate level course. Teaching these courses, involved presenting weekly mini-lectures and leading class discussions, organizing problem sessions and holding office hours to assist students with coursework. I wrote and reviewed exam and homework questions, graded exams and homeworks, and developed impressive time management skills. I found teaching maths to be a lot of fun, and I thoroughly enjoyed being able to help students. My experiences with these courses have encouraged me to pursue a career as a mathematics teacher.
I believe in using a variety of methods in tutoring. I would bring material to work through myself, and would also expect the student to have material from their school or college that they need to finish.
