Hi my name is Raghavy, a graduate from University College London with a degree in Natural Sciences (Neuroscience and Organic Chemistry). I have a genuine passion for teaching especially within the field of science where innovative concepts and ideas have a practical applications to everyday life. I really enjoy teaching students and having been a student myself, who achieved 4 A's at A-level (in Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Psychology), I know the key skills required to be successful in exams is fundamentally exam technique supplemented by clear concise notes that break down complex topics. In my spare time I enjoy reading books on personal development, philosophy, neuroscience and positive psychology.
I have tutored several students when I studied at University and I enjoyed it very much that I decided to continue the profession after graduating. I have helped my students achieve their target grades and more importantly a grade that reflect their true potential [see reviews]. I have been trained to interact and assist students through peer mentoring. Over 500 hours of tutoring experience over last 3 years has helped me to analyse and identify the needs of each student and tailor my teaching approach to complement their individual learning style. This is fundamental to my tutoring approach as each student has their own unique way of digesting more challenging topics. Overall my experience from tutoring has helped me develop a wide curriculum knowledge for the new specifications (2015 onwards) as I tutor AQA, OCR A and B salters and Edexcel.
I believe each and every student has the capacity to achieve the highest grades through careful strategising. It is not always about how much effort you put in but what you put that effort in to. I provide the platform for a positive teaching environment that motivates students to be more confident in their own abilities. Hence attaining knowledge but more importantly understanding (which essential for the new specifications). As well as going through all subject content specific to their relevant exam board, I ensure that my students practice exam questions straight after each topic and more questions will be given for homework to practice exam technique. This further prepares them for the final exams and help consolidate their understanding of the topic.
