Bonjour! Hallo! I'm a fully qualified secondary school teacher/head of department with 17 years' experience teaching French, German & Italian in the independent sector (PGCE/QTS, MA (Oxon) in French & German).
Before that, I worked in international business in Paris for 9 yrs and taught English in German-speaking Switzerland for a year.
I was educated at Oxford University and also did my teacher-training there.
For the past 8 years, I have been teaching part-time in school and tutoring privately. During this time, I have also completed a MA in Creative Writing and am currently writing my first novel.

Cranleigh School, Surrey (Head of Dept); Headington School, Oxford; Abingdon School; The Downs School (Visiting A Level French tutor); Oxford Sixth Form College (Easter Revision Course - French A Level).

I am used to teaching all ability levels, boys and girls, from Year 7 to Year 13 and including Oxbridge preparation. I consistently achieve strong results and am well-liked by my students. I conduct IGCSE/A Level speaking exams in school and have prepared students for most exam boards/specifications.

I can also offer mock Oxbridge interviews (please enquire about separate price).

Tutoring Approach

I am patient, encouraging and friendly, and adapt to the needs of my students. After making an initial assessment, I offer tailor-made strategies to help them achieve better results and feel more confident using the language. This usually involves a combination of speaking and writing practice, comprehension work, grammar and vocabulary practice, with a focus on exam technique so that students are able to access the higher marks. I use online learning tools to make lessons more visual and fun.

Please note that for safeguarding reasons, an adult will need to be present during lessons (or in a nearby room) - this includes online lessons. I also record online lessons for safeguarding reasons, so everyone feels comfortable.
