Online English and Special Needs Tuition

I am a highly experienced English and Drama teacher who has taught in the UK as well as in international schools in Europe, Asia and the Middle East. I graduated from the University of Aberystwyth and completed my PGCE at the University of Leeds.

In my current role as an 11-18 Drama Teacher and HOY for Y13 in an international school, I enjoy helping my students build their confidence and social skills through combining practical exercises with theoretical exploration and leading the Y13 team to support our students with University applications and skills for their next steps in life.

As mum to a teenage daughter with ASD, I have done extensive research into female presentation Autism including completing an Open University in Understanding Autism, and have collaborated with staff, parents and students in various international schools to promote Autism awareness and create a safe space for discussion. I have a Level 2 certificate in Counselling and offer support on my site, differ-sense.org

I speak pretty good French, and picked up a bit of Portuguese whilst abroad.

Tutoring Approach

I'm a good listener and am perceptive in picking up on people's anxieties (and strengths) very quickly. Developing a rapport with students, getting to know what "makes them tick" and building an individual programme of study according to their needs and aims is key to success, and I have plenty of experience in this area. My lessons and tutorials centre on discussion, presentation skills, executive function skills and mindfulness activities in addition to the assessment objectives required for examinations. Building up confidence, trust and ultimately the self-belief required to become self-sufficient is rewarding to see in any student, and I encourage them to celebrate their successes - we all have strengths and challenges, and any improvement should be rewarded!
