Pooja

Private Online Maths and Physics Tutor

My name is Pooja Removed. I am currently studying MSci Chemistry at Imperial College London. I have always enjoyed studying all my subjects, especially the sciences and maths. I have always been interested by the fascinating applications of the sciences to real life as well as the prominent use of mathematics within the sciences and hence the strong link between these subjects. The logic of mathematics and the information about the phenomena of the world around us bestowed by the sciences has always been and is appreciated, loved and enjoyed greatly by me.

I am hard-working, I am dedicated and I am organised. I create timetables and plans to structure my study and revision and I study efficiently by creating colourful, detailed notes, colourful, concise flashcards and detailed powerpoint presentations for my subjects as well as answering many past paper questions. These, combined, allow me to become highly confident in all the topics of all my subjects.

Also, I really enjoy and love passing on my knowledge to others through teaching them. I regularly teach my siblings who are doing GCSEs and A-levels and I teach them systematically. I have also been teaching primary years students, GCSE students and A-level students for the past 2 years - I have seen an increase in the students' confidence in the subjects I have been teaching them, an increase in their enthusiasm towards the subjects as well as a large amount of progress made by the students in the subjects throughout the period I have been doing lessons with them.

Tutoring Experience

I really enjoy and love passing on my knowledge to others through teaching them. I regularly teach my siblings some of whom are studying GCSEs and some of whom are studying A-levels and I teach them systematically by first going through each topic thoroughly and clearly so that they fully understand, then going through exam questions with them modelling how to give ideal, perfect answers that would give them full marks. Then, I answer exam questions on the topic with the student's input, as I guide them. Finally, I give them exam questions on the topic to answer independently to test their confidence with and application of the content and exam technique I have taught them. Once they answer the questions and send me their work, I go through their work including telling them which areas they did well in and which areas they need to work on - As part of going through the work, I ensure that the student fully understands how to answer every question I had given them to answer. I go through more exam questions on the topic, with the student, in our lessons before moving on to teach them the content of another topic. I teach them via online sessions and also face-to-face. As well as this, I have been ambassador of my school in my sixth form years and as part of this, I have helped and taught many different younger students various different science topics and have helped them to excel in the sciences. I taught many different types of students who all had different learning styles and approaches to learning. I used my system of first explaining theory of a topic in great detail, very clearly, then going through exam questions, on the topic, with them showing them model answers and how to achieve full marks, then going through exam questions, on the topic, with the student's input, next giving them exam questions to answer independently and finally going through the independent work done by the student, with them, thoroughly. All the students were very happy as they were able to retain so much of the content I taught them and as a result their science topic test scores increased highly.

Also, I have now been teaching primary years students, GCSE students and A-level students for the past 2 years and I have received very positive feedback from all my students and their parents. Throughout the time I have been teaching the students, I have seen the students progress highly and have seen an increase in their enthusiasm towards their studies as a result of the support I have been giving them with their studies.

Tutoring Approach

I regularly teach my siblings who are doing GCSEs and A-levels and I teach them systematically by first going through each topic thoroughly and clearly so that they fully understand, then going through exam questions on the topic with them modelling how to give ideal, perfect answers that would give them full marks and then answering exam questions on the topic with the student's input, as I guide them.

In summary, my approach to teaching is:
- First teach and go through a topic thoroughly, make the student write notes on what I am teaching as I go along.
- Go through exam questions with the student. I answer exam questions on the topic covered, showing the student how to write answers that would achieve full marks.
-Answer exam questions with the student (includes my guidance and the student's input).
-Answer any questions that the student has.
-Set the student exam questions on the topic for them to answer independently.
-Once they have answered all the questions and sent me their work, I go through the questions that I gave the student to answer independently, with the student in lesson time, ensuring they understand how to answer all the questions correctly. As part of this, I go through what they did well in answering the questions and what they didn't do so well in answering the questions (their strong areas and their weak areas) and I tell them to mark their answers and make necessary amendments, as we go through their work, using a different colour pen ink to the colour ink they use to write notes in our lessons and to answer questions that I give them for homework.
- I go through additional exam questions on the topic, in my lessons with the student.

Also, I have now been teaching primary years students, GCSE students and A-level students for the past 2 years and I have used the same tutoring approach to teach them. This approach has helped the students very much and has helped the students understand topics' content very well and become much more confident in answering exam questions. All my students have engaged with my tutoring approach very well.
