Government and Politics
My name is Phil and my three main passions are History, Politics and Football. Being a History and Government and Politics teacher I get to follow these passions everyday professionally, though I have given up on being able to do so with the third! I am primarily interested in tutoring Government and Politics and would only be open to tutoring for History if it was a course that I had recently taught. I have a number of resources that I have made for my students which I am able to share during my tutoring, including thorough revision guides.
I have an up to date DBS certificate. Tutoring would ideally take place in my office at my home which is a short walking distance from Fleet Train station. My partner, also a teacher with an up to date DBS, would be present at all times. I am only looking to Tutor for a maxmimum of two hours per week (more possible during School Holidays).
I have a Post-Graduate Certificate of Education in History from the University of Bath. This followed graduating from Reading University in 2009 with a First-Class Honours Degree in History. I have taught in three schools, both indepedent and state sectors, and in each have taught both GCSE and A-Level History. I have also taught AS and A2 Level Government and Politics.
As a classroom teacher I have seen the benefit of private tuition for students. However, I firmly believe that tuition works best when the tutor is seeking to complement what a student is doing in the classroom. I would aim to make sure I am always doing this and focusing on those areas in which we can make the best use of our time together.
