I have been teaching quantitative subjects as well as mathematics at university level for 5 years. I teach part time as a Guest Teacher at the London School of Economics and I provide private tuition in Mathematical Methods, Statistical Methods, Pure Mathematics and related quantitative disciplines as well as in programming.
In the past I have also provided advice to clients looking for a job in finance guided by my experience in Derivatives Trading and Quantitative Risk Management at UBS and Barclays Capital. My most recent projects included helping a student to secure his dream job at Goldman Sachs. I have successfully interviewed with major investment banks and hedge funds numerous times so I can provide valuable guidance to help applicants with their preparation.
I hold a Masters degree in Applicable Mathematics (London School of Economics, Distinction) and I have won multiple awards for my teaching at University, including two class teaching awards at the LSE. I currently work 80% time at a Credit Hedge Fund working on a quantitative analysis project in R, so I am only available for meetings on the Weekend.
London School of Economics: 4 years class teaching in the Mathematics Department.
King's College London: 3 years as a class tutor in the Mathematics Department.
Private Tutoring: hundreds of hours
Subjects have included:
Pure Mathematics: Real Analysis, Complex Analysis, Abstract Algebra, Groups and Symmetries, Manifolds, Topology, Geometry of Surfaces, Optimisation in Function Spaces and many more
Mathematical Methods: Single and Multivariable Calculus, Linear Algebra, Optimization, Differential Equations
Statistics / Econometrics: Statistical Methods, Elementary Econometrics
Computer Science: R, Java, Python and Matlab
My approach depends entirely on the individual needs of the student. Usually this means sessions are focused on exercises as practice is the only way to be successful in mathematics and other quantitative disciplines. Working closely with exercises also makes it easy for me to spot gaps in the student's knowledge, allowing me to focus on the most important aspects when it comes to explanations of background material.
