Focus on 11+ entrance exams - GL Assessment / CEM style
Currently enrolling Year 4 children
I am a friendly and enthusiastic tutor specializing in 11+ entrance exam. My first students were my own daughters who were successfully prepared for the exam and gained admission to the Kendrick Grammar School, Reading (2014). Since then, I have been passionately tutoring and developing my own teaching methods that work.

Apart from that, having a physiotherapy background, I work as a medical and pharmaceutical translator and editor. And I also enjoy spending time in the countryside, where I recharge and often find new ideas.

Tutoring Experience

My journey as an 11+ exam tutor began in 2013 when my twin daughters started their preparation. I discovered that I thoroughly enjoyed teaching them as well as preparing my own worksheets to aid their learning. They smashed the exam well above the cut off point!

Since then, friends (and friends of friends) were getting in touch to tutor their children. Additionally, I tutored children in an 11+ exam afterschool club at a primary school and I found that the best results were achieved in small groups of 2-3 students of similar ability or just individually. A good number of my students are currently studying in the Grammar school or Private school of their choice.

I also sometimes get requests to prepare children for the SAT exam (KS2) and when I have the availability, I am happy to help.

Tutoring Approach

  • What is covered – Maths, English grammar, English comprehension, Verbal reasoning, Non-verbal reasoning and Creative writing based on the GL Assessment or CEM style exam.
  • Lessons are usually 1 hour long and take place once a week either virtually or face-to-face (at your home, additional charge for travel may apply).
  • My own short weekly tests which cover what was taught in the past few weeks and regular homework are part of the study routine. Such structure offers instant feedback to monitor students’ progress, strength and weaknesses. Any weakness is immediately addressed in the next lesson and continuously monitored.
  • A range of 11+ books from reputable and tested publishers are used along with plenty of my own study and practice worksheets and tests.
  • Since each child has got an individual talent, working very closely with the child and parents reaps the best results.
  • Having myself lived through the experience of a being a parent of children preparing for the exam, I understand all the intensity, the ups and downs of what each family is going through. I am happy to provide guidance and prepare for this practical aspect too.
