Personal Description:

I am a doctoral student currently in the final stages of my PhD in political history. Having studied a range of subjects at both degree and postgraduate level, I am qualified to teach a range of abilities and backgrounds at GCSE, A-Level and degree level. I am friendly, approachable and passionate about the subjects I teach. In addition, I am highly motivated and seek to tailor each tutoring session to the needs of the individual student.

My academic background is highly diverse. For my bachelors degree, I studied both Economics and Business and received a 2:1 (with honours). Following my graduation, I was accepted onto a prestigious Masters program funded by the United States and EU, which saw me study for two MA degrees (Social Science and History) in Estonia, Poland and the United States. After my MA, I was offered a scholarship at Teesside University to research for a PhD in British political history, which I hope to complete in the summer of 2016. During my PhD, I have had the opportunity to publish my work in peer-reviewed journals, including the highly-regarded Journal of Contemporary British History and am also in the process of co-editing a collection of essays to be published in 2017.

For more information regarding my academic career and publications, please see my Academia profile on **Web Address Removed** or I can send you my full CV.

Tutoring Experience:

My principal teaching experience is at university level, and I have lectured on both European history and the Russian Revolution. In addition to this, I have taken a teacher training course at Teesside University.

As well as teaching at university, my academic career has meant I have given lectures and seminars to a wide range of audiences, both in the UK and internationally.

My teaching experience has allowed me to engage with a diverse range of abilities and enabled me to build a strong set of skills which offer academically rigorous but accessible teaching.

Tutoring Approach:

When considering how to deliver a subject, I consistently ask the question: how would I have liked to have been taught it? My favourite teachers and tutors were those who were approachable, knew and enjoyed their subject, were good communicators, didn't get frustrated if it was taking a while to understand and above all, understood how to relate the subject to my interests and circumstances. I always endeavour to meet that criteria and ensure that the student feels comfortable to express themselves.

The first session is perhaps the most important, where I discover what motivates the student as well as their aims and objectives. Building upon this, it will enable me to provide a completely tailor-made tutoring experience for the student where they can maximise their potential and achieve great results.
