I am passionate аbоut developing proficient literacy аnd critical thinking аmоngst my students. I attempt tо instill аn appreciation of excellence аnd diligence within аll those whоm I teach, аnd аn understanding thаt leаrning is а cоnstаnt process. Finally, I аim tо suppоrt my students in feeling confident аnd successful in their English studies.
I am а fully qualified teacher of Secondary English (PGCE with QTS: Teach First) with experience in teaching from Key Stage 3- 5. I have an excellent record of achieving results at both GCSE and A Level, with the majority of my students achieving or exceeding their targets. In my current school, I hold managerial positions a middle leader in charge of the gifted and talented pupils and a behaviour specialist This means that I lead staff members in developing teachings strategies and plan/manage all pupils to achieve the very top grades. In addition to this, I am examiner for the EDUQAS, EDEXCEL and AQA English Language and Literature qualifications.
I believe that tutoring should be pupil-led and therefore tailored to not only the academic needs of the individual student but also they way in which they learn. Therefore, I like to identify individual weaknesses and devise a plan to address these. My own studies at Master's level have considerably widened my knowledge of Literature while enhancing my own writing skills and thus my ability to help students develop theirs, at all levels. My role as an examiner has given me insight regarding the requirements of exam boards which I will pass on where appropriate in my tutoring.
