Private Maths and English Tuition in Edgware

I'm a junior doctor working in North London, with availability in the evenings and occasional weekends to provide tutoring to local students.

I received 8 academic prizes and 15 distinctions throughout my Medicine studies at university. I attained A* in all my A-Levels consisting of Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. All AS & A2 modules for A-Level Maths were learnt within a year, enabling me to complete the whole A-Level during my AS year. I also achieved 11 A*s in my GCSE subjects which were studied at The Lady Eleanor Holles School, where I held an academic scholarship.

I am able to offer first-hand experience on preparing for Medical School admissions, particularly regarding admission tests (BMAT & UKCAT), personal statement and volunteering/work experience.

I enjoy Medicine, Science and Maths and I am keen to get back into tutoring these subjects, having tutored on/off during university. I enjoy teaching students and love the satisfaction gained from watching them succeed in understanding a new topic which they recently were struggling with!

Tutoring Experience

I have provided tutoring and mentoring throughout my medical degree to younger undergraduate students. I also tutored privately up to GCSE level during some of my initial undergraduate years.

I tutored AS Biology to a younger student during my last year of Sixth Form, enabling her to achieve an A in her exam. I also guided my younger sister in Maths when she had problems understanding new concepts, and she has now completed her AS Maths modules one year ahead of her peers who have only just finished their GCSEs.

Tutoring Approach

I have two approaches to tutoring, depending on what it is the tutee wishes to get out of it:

When learning new material, I will first build a foundation for the concepts to be taught, and aim to draw links with pre-existing knowledge.

If running over old material, I will help go through any notes, reiterate key concepts and ideas, before using past paper questions to reinforce the knowledge.
