This is how 2 referees rated Nicola:
I've moved to Thames Ditton having had identical twin boys in November 2013. I'm loving being a full-time mum but I still keen to continue with my maths tutoring as I find it extremely rewarding, and I enjoy it.
I graduated from Loughborough University in 1998 and worked in industry for several years. I felt unfulfilled in the city and wanted a change. I trained at South Bank University in 2004 and gained my PGCE Secondary Mathematics qualification in July 2005. Teaching Maths and helping students achieve their goals has given me the satisfaction and personal rewards I never found in corporate life.
I have been teaching secondary Maths for 10 years in London comprehensive schools. This have given me a unique insight into the needs of a wide spectrum of pupils and abilities. I simply love teaching Maths and am passionate about my subject. I get great pleasure and satisfaction when my pupils overcome hurdles and achieve their potential.
My first teaching post was at Chestnut Grove School in Balham where I taught Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and AS Level Maths. I worked there for 4 years and then moved to St Marylebone School in Marylebone, where I held the roles of Key Stage 3 Co-ordinator from 2009-2010, KS4 Co-ordinator from 2010/2011 as well as teaching Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 & AS level Maths.
Both these school are Ofsted rated as "Outstanding" schools.
I have been tutoring for 10 years and have successfully helped all my students progress and achieve their target grades. Some B grade students have achieved an A grade and D/C borderline students have achieved a C grade.
I know and understand that for many people, both young and old, Maths can be an uphill struggle. With my experience, welcoming approach and amiable personality, I make Maths fun and enjoyable… and not so scary.
There are many misconceptions and difficulties with maths. Tutoring is an extremely valuable tool to combat these problems. It allows me to work one-to-one with my students, and this focused approach enables me to formulate a bespoke teaching strategy for each individual student.
