I have been working in schools, both private and state, for the last 10 years. I really enjoy working with young people and watching their confidence grow and seeing them develop their own thoughts, ideas and strategies in different subject areas. I have been fortunate enough to work with children from many different backgrounds and have been able to see them thrive in a variety of scenarios; through coaching them on the sports field, helping them with their lines for a show or finally getting to grips with some of the essential academic skills that had been holding them back.
I have worked as a learning support assistant in primary and secondary schools and I used that experience to underpin my teacher training for secondary school. I currently teach History and Government and Politics to all age groups, but I have also worked as a SENCO. I am also an examiner for EDEXCEL and OCR
I approach tutoring by focusing primarily on the strengths of the person I am working with. This helps me to take their confidence and comfort in one aspect and secure it in others. From a positive and secure starting point I can then establish which areas can benefit the most from a more focused approach without the person having to fear repeated under achievement and overloading.
