I have BSc Honours degree from Sussex University in Biochemistry.
I have a MSc in Healthcare Informatics from the Royal College of Surgeons.
I also completed a training and mentorship course at Middlesex University.
I am currently employed as training officer responsible for teaching college, graduate and post graduate students in the healthcare setting, which runs in parallel with my role as Laboratory Manager at one of the most prestigious Hospitals in London specialising in Heart and Lung care.
I am a black belt, qualified teacher and examiner in Tae Kwon Do.
I have been tutoring for more than 15 years and all of my students make significant progress in their grades. I am able to support and guide students in achieving their aspirational/stretch target grade.
My role as training officer involves organising structured training programs and allowing students to progress at an individual pace, these skills are transferred to creating students individual action plans based on their academic targets tackling both knowledge gaps, lack of motivation and exam skills. I have experience in tutoring across all the examining boards and use a wide range of resources to enhance my teaching to provide students with a better understanding.
My teaching technique is adapted to suit my students on an individual basis in order to ensure my lessons are uniquely tailored to their needs and requirements.
As a martial arts instructor I have taught students ranging from 4 years old children to 50 year old adults. I believe it’s vital to build a positive working relationship with all students in order to boost confidence and resilience in all areas.
Each student is an individual and I assess each one on their ability, learning style and pace. My sessions are well planned and structured in order for students to make maximum progress while enjoying the subjects. Lessons are created based on their strengths and weaknesses to suit the individual child.
I believe it is important to teach the fundamental foundations of science where understanding is crucial and knowledge is imbedded in order to apply this throughout the rest of the course and be successful in exams.
I have a passion for teaching using various teaching techniques and my greatest reward is to see students grow in confidence and do well academically. I take on a mixed approach of active learning where the students are able to be more vocal and are able to complete various activities and teacher talk to explain crucial information. I believe taking on a warm and approachable stance will increase productivity in a lesson and allow students to feel comfortable to make mistakes and learn from them, this will lead to the best academic outcome.
