Private Maths and Physics Tutor in Wembley

Having grown up and attended school in Brent – John Kelly Boys Technology College – I personally know the struggles of trying to excel within education when one does not have the right support system in place. This exact reason has led me to provide this service to individuals who are looking to succeed but may not know how to.

Having studied chemical engineering at the University of Cambridge, I firmly believe that my degree has equipped me with a strong understanding of any mathematical field, which is pivotal in helping others to understand the field and to do well.

In addition to my educational background, I have developed a self-reliant approach to learning which I believe I can pass on to anyone willing to learn or who has a passion for succeeding. This approach is invaluable for many students, as many do find that the schools do not provide adequate support for individuals who need tailored help or are looking to achieve top marks.

Tutoring Experience

I have extensive experience in teaching students, some of which can be found below
• Taught a class of 15 students Physics, Mathematics and Mechanics
• Tutored two under-performing students in Mathematics and supported them in achieving a C or above in their GCSE
• Tutored four students in their Mathematics A-Level and helped them to reach 3 As and 1 B
• Supported numerous students through their UCAS applications (personal statement, university selection, subject selection) and helped one student also to get admitted to the University of Cambridge

Tutoring Approach

My approach is based on two key concepts –
1. Working with the student to ensure they understand the foundations of the subject they are looking to undertake
2. Working with the parents to ensure the student has suitable support systems in place for them to succeed

I have found that many students struggle within the mathematical fields because they lack the foundations that allow them to tackle the more complex concepts. Therefore, I approach every student as if they are a blank slate and allow them to show me the limit of their knowledge. I also do not teach students to memorise, but I teach students to learn – e.g. upon encountering a problem, I do not just tackle the problem, but I try to get to the root cause and help the student to realise their gap and work with them to address the said gap. This approach has enabled me to support students over many years, ensuring they get to a level where they no longer need my support and can carry themselves forward - this is extremely important for when they go on to university.

As much as it is essential to work with the students, it is crucial to ensure the parents are aware of the support the students need to succeed. Therefore, I have supported parents in guiding them through the education system and informing them of the critical requirements for each level (GCSE, A-levels, University). I also have candid conversations with the parents to inform them of their child progress and advise them on what else is needed for their child to reach their target.
